That’s all we do, and we’re completely committed to, and focused on providing the best mountain biking vacations in the most spectacular locations in the world. A mountain biking holiday is a very special kind of trip that requires particular planning, support, expertise and, of course, a special kind of customer (that’s you). And it’s for these reasons that we have chosen to focus all our efforts on mountain bike adventures; because that’s how we believe we can provide you with the most unforgettable experiences.

Secondly, we care about the countries and the communities that we visit with you, and from whose landscapes, culture, cuisine and hospitality we benefit. Responsible travel
In practice…
- We use only local mountain bike guides in all of the areas where we ride. This ensures that a portion of the revenue from our trips stays in the local community and apart from that, who could know the trails better than someone living and riding them every day?!
- We use family-run accommodation and cafés/ restaurants in each location, where you will be made to feel at home and you’ll enjoy the local way of life and delicious home-cooked meals
- We strive to work with partners in each country who are engaged in local community projects. For example, in Oaxaca we support a collection of eight villages that have come together to form an eco-tourism partnership that benefits each community equally, providing skilled jobs and income from the cabins in which you’ll stay on this trip
- You’ll have the chance to engage with the culture and nature of each region on our mountain biking holidays. You’ll have time off the bike to enjoy and learn about the indigenous wildlife, products, crafts and history of the area
- Sustainable tourism is to everyone’s benefit: by contributing to the economy of the communities we visit we help them to thrive, which means we can continue to enjoy their treasures
- We hope to inspire you to connect with the people you meet and places you visit, and to leave you with a lasting impression of having experienced something special

Introducing your mountain bike guides…
Alex (aka Cheshire Cat)
Name: Alex Glasgow
Home town: Plockton, West Coast of Scotland
Bikes: Yeti ASR5-C (guiding); Trek Elite 9.9 (racing); Specialized Rockhopper rigid (local trail riding); and a few others…!
Mtb triumphs: Three times British XC champion (V40), and winner of the first ever Celtman Extreme Triathlon (2012)
Favourite trails: other than my own backyard; Torridon, and the Lubra Pass in Nepal
Most known for: constantly grinning like a Cheshire cat
“My love affair with bikes began in the early ’80s in the woods behind my house, a stripped down red shopping bike with the fattest tyres I could fit through the frame. Through my 20’s I went touring for three years – the Middle East, the length and breadth of Africa, the Himalayas; a free agent with my tent and my mountain bike.
“I ride a lot, and am lucky enough to live in the heart of the rugged West Coast of Scotland. From my back door I can ride straight onto the trails, I’m less than an hour from the Cuillins and from Torridon, both with superb natural trails, and a classic Coast-to-Coast starts from right here. This is my playground, and I am very happy to show you the toys.”
Kevin (aka Digger)
Name: Kevin Henderson
Home town: Abernyte, Perthshire, Scotland
Bikes: Yeti SB66; Kona Big Unit 29er singlespeed
Favourite trails: for chasing down friends, definitely Torridon, Drumguish and Laggan Wolftrax in the Cairngorms National Park
Most known for: composing poetry while riding alone, which often ends ‘wheels up’!
“My first mountain bike was a red one. I got that first bike in the summer of 2004 when I lived on the Carse of Gowrie in Perthshire, and I rode it between the farmers fields, through all the mud I could find. I soon discovered the mountains of Highland Perthshire and big days out exploring in the Cairngorms. Enduro race events followed, and somewhere on this short timeline I began running mountain biking, visual art and literacy clubs for primary school children in association with an Active Schools group.
“Today I still live in Perthshire, but up on a hill now. I ride nearly every day. And while the bike has changed (it’s white, a bit lighter) and I’m a bit better at staying on it (mostly!) my love of riding in Scotland, and in the Highlands in particular, has only got deeper with time.”
Tim
Name: Tim Winterburn
Home town: Beauly, Highlands of Scotland
Bike: Yeti SB66 carbon, Cotic Rocket, On One 456 Summer Season, MTB tandem, road tandem, 2 roadies…… the list goes on…..
Favourite trail: For me, it has to be Torridon in the north-west Highlands of Scotland
Riding since: 1988
“One of my earliest memories is pedalling my tricycle up a massive hill near my house in Cardiff, South Wales – whilst my mum struggled to keep up running beside me. I’ve rarely been found off a bike since then, and have been actively mountain biking for 25 years; it’s scary (but brilliant!!) to think how much time I’ve spent building, fettling, and riding bikes!
I moved to the Scottish Highlands about six years ago because for me, there is nowhere better to live on Earth. I love everything about it here – the people, the mountains, the culture and history, the food, the trails – and you will too!”
Euan (aka Chevalier)
Name: Euan Wilson
Home town: Inverness, capital of the Highlands of Scotland
Family: wife Catherine
Bike: Yeti SB66 (Carbon)
Mtb triumphs: owning and managing one of the best mountain bike adventure tour companies in the world!
Favourite trails: in Scotland, Torridon and Skye; elsewhere, the Yukon in Canada and Sierra Norte in Mexico
Most known for: catch-phrase “It’s just round the next corner…”
“I started mountain biking with friends when I was about 20 and was instantly hooked. At that time I was very into music, but my beloved hi-fi system soon began to gather dust as most of my spare time was spent out on the trails around Glasgow and in the Highlands. I decided to turn my passion into a business five or so years ago and now I love showing clients the joy of discovering new trails and beautiful places by bike.
“I still enjoy listening to good music, but my bike is my first love (just don’t tell my wife!)”

Yeti Cycles has been in the business of producing world-class mountain bikes since early 1985, with a ‘race breed’ to be proud of. Being at the forefront of the bike racing scene has allowed Yeti to develop and test new and innovative bike designs that have migrated on to the production bikes that you can ride today.
As mountain bike guides who spend much of our year riding in some of the most wild and untamed places in the world, our bikes are the one piece of kit that takes the biggest bashing, and Yeti Cycles make bikes that can stand up to the demands of mountain biking in extreme conditions.
We’re developing a strong, long-term partnership with Yeti and look forward to sharing with you all the positive outcomes of this relationship as they unfold!

Coast-to-coast Scotland
…epic, challenging, awesome. A few words to describe our recent holiday with H&I Adventures. This was our first experience with H&I Adventures and we’re already trying to figure out when we can holiday with them again. We were impressed with the resources available to allow, as in our case, eleven individuals of varying abilities to maximize their experience over the course of the week. The skill level rating and description for this tour reflects the scope and scale of all that the Coast-to-Coast Scotland has to offer. Thanks again Euan & Catherine for a great holiday.
A wonderful adventure
This is a long overdue note to say what a wonderful time we had with Euan in the Cairngorms National Park. Not only was the scenery spectacular, but it was such a special way to see the countryside. The planning and support throughout the trip were fantastic and we couldn't reccomend it more highly!
Coast-to-coast Scotland
Leg busting climbs and thrilling descents! I'd travel to the ends of the earth with H&I Adventures, dedicated as they are to providing adventure and comfort while safety and competence lead the way.
Coast-to-coast Oct 2012
We highly recommend the Coast to Coast trip. This was our second time traveling with H&I Adventures and it won't be our last. Euan, Catherine and the H&I Adventures guides are great to work with from pre-trip planning through trip follow up. The riding in the Highlands is amazing and the accommodations and food are fabulous.
Coast-to-coast Scotland Sept 2012
A fantastic MTB trip all round. Awesome scenery on our own back door combined with challenging MTB trails under the leadership of very professional and attentive guides. I have travelled to numerous places over the world on similar types of trips and this is equal to the best of them. The quality of the guiding was the best I have experienced and if this is anything to go by I would highly recommend a H&I Adventures trip to anyone looking for a bit of adventure on a bike!
Coast-to-coast Scotland Oct 2012
What a great trip to explore what Scotland has to offer in the Highlands area! H&I Adventures team led by Euan and Catherine were great to work with and guide us before and during the trip. The team was able to swiftly adapt to the weather changes and any other challenges put in front of our group. The routes chosen were a great mix of double & single track as well as road. Euan's knowledge of the weather and course were top notch! Evenings were relaxing with great places to stay and delicious food! I highly suggest leveraging H&I Adventures for any of your holiday biking trips!
Torridon & Skye
Amazing trip from beginning to end!!! Trails were challenging and fun. The scenery is inspiring and absolutely beautiful. The guides were knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly and I'm a better rider today because of them. Even the food and accommodations were great! Best of all, I now have some new riding buddies to go on future trips with. H&I Adventures took care of everything perfectly!
Torridon & Skye
My first trip with H&I Adventures also, but definitely not my last. I completely agree with Chris and Jonno - the trails, scenery, accomodations, food and guides were all awesome. Unreal value for the cost of the trip and my fitness and technical skills were definitely increased and put to the test. Making some new good friends was just icing on the cake - can't say enough about this trip!
Skye/Torridon
