Last week we arranged to go out riding in Torridon with Lindsay from Basecamp mountain bikes and Kev from Artcycle, and what a day we had! It started off with an early morning pick up from Inverness with a cup off coffee and an air of anticipation of what the new trail we had found will ride like. On the drive from Inverness to Torridon we had sunshine, clouds, rain and snow showers which left us wondering what we were going to get on this ride. As it turned out this when we arrived on the west coast the sun was shinning and warmed our bones.
As we left Torridon village behind and started to climb we were instantly getting a taste for what was to come, rocks, roots and amazing singletrack!
For the best part of the climb we were bathed in amazing spring sunshine, until the snow shower decided to come rushing in, I was determined to hold onto the sunshine so kept my sunglasses on in the hope that the sun would return, and it did! Just in time for the best descent I have been on for a very long time, 24hrs later I was still grinning.
A descent that has everything you can imagine, loose rock, drops, steps, drainage ditches, slabs and even natural berms! All the way to the bottom I was laughing like a “crazed serial killer” according to the others, and it took an hour or so to wear off!
Once back at Torridon village we cleared out the local cafe of cake and latte, and then headed home to relive the descent all evening. Can’t wait to go back with our customers this year on our west coast and Torridon holidays.
